On this page you will find a note of some of the achievements of various club members since the club was set up in 1990. The list is by no means exhaustive but we hope you will begin to appreciate just how significant the club has been for many of our athletes, coaches and volunteers. Enjoy!

Gavin Drysdale wins the Young Scot Sports Award 2012

Just when Janice and Ian's Sports Personality award was still fresh in our minds, along came Gavin Drysdale, who has just won the Young Scot Sports Award for 2012. You can watch some footage about his award at the following link:


Janice and Ian win the Unsung Heroes award

Janice Eaglesham and Ian Mirfin win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Heroes Award 2011! The big news of 2011 was the fantastic win for Janice and Ian in the BBC awards which was held on 22 December 2011. Follow the link below to see some of the coverage and interviews:

Allan Stuart - World Record Holder

Allan is a member of Shettleston Harriers and is coached by Roger Harkin. Allan is an athlete with a registered Learning Disability (LD) and, as such, is eligible to compete in disability sport as well as sport for non disabled athletes. In September 2007, Allan attended the World Athletic Championships for People with a Learning Disability, in Fortaleza, Brazil. He won both the 200m and 400m in times of 21.45 secs and 47.25 secs, the 200m time being a new World Record. Allan was also awarded Male Athlete of the Championships for these performances. His time also placed him top of the LD world rankings for these events. Within mainstream sport, Allan's times place him 2nd in the Scottish Senior Rankings for Senior Men and top of the 400m rankings.

Libby Clegg - Paralympic and World Championship Medalist

Formerly a member of Red Star AC and formerly coached by Janice Eaglesham. Libby is a young sprinter with a significant Visual Impairment. She burst on to the International scene in September 2006 with a Silver medal in the 200m at the World Track and Field Championships for people with a disability held in Assen, Holland. She was 16 years old at the time. In 2007, she was the youngest person in Great Britain athletics, disabled or otherwise, to be on Level B podium funding. Libby won the Norwich Union disability 200m held in Glasgow in June 2007. She is Scotland's top female athlete with a disability.

Karen Lewis Archer - Paralympian and European/World Championship Medalist

Karen is a former member of the club who has competed at the highest level in wheelchair racing. She has twice been selected for the UK Paralympic team in 2000 and 2004 and has a string of European and World Championship medals to her name.

The achievements above are only the tip of the club iceberg and there have been many others since it was set up in December 1990.
